Abstract – Perceptions of Personality in Third Culture Kids

Last fall I returned to the United States after living overseas for seventeen years.  This experience, while unusual, is not unique. In fact, there is a term for people like me- “third culture kids.” A third culture kid is “someone who, as a child, has spent a significant period of time in one or more culture(s) other than his or her own, thus integrating elements of those cultures and their own birth culture, into a third culture” (Pollock 2009).
